Ever since I picked up my first guitar in the 1970’s, I knew I wanted to be a rock star. Thanks to trailblazers like Suzi Quatro, Nancy Wilson, Chrissie Hynde, Lita Ford… it didn’t seem like an impossibility. In high school, Walter Pliszak (member of Timbres), invited me to join his band Gowanus Canal, not as a go-go dancer, but as a vocalist, and later guitar player. This opportunity allowed me to hone my skills as a musician. Early 1980’s, Leslie West of Mountain, down on his luck, was teaching guitar. Lo and behold, I was accepted as a student. This is a long story, but I ended up with his Fender Stratocaster, which he told me, he used on Mountain Rising. Unfortunately, during one of our lessons, Leslie received a call from police that Felix Pappalardi’s wife had shot him, thus having to cut our session short that day. I ran into Leslie later on in life, before he died, and had the guitar autographed. He did not remember me. My ancestry is Ukrainian, and I am a descendant of the Cisyk musical dynasty. My cousin George Pawlyk, who has always been my guitar guru, my sister Roma, bass player extraordinaire, and I decided to form a band and named it, yes, CISYK. With the help of Doug Yagilowich, we recorded some original material, on an analog reel-to-reel!!! Drummer Carlo Solo and I left Cisyk and formed a new band. After graduating from NYU with a degree in Music, Business & Technology, I had to make a decision. I decided to work in a supermarket and pursue my musical career. The owners of Associated, made me their manager, and gave me a key to the store, and let me have a rehearsal studio in the basement! Those guys were the best. This is when I hooked up with Peter Swido, bass player like no other, and my musical/songwriting soulmate. This was the most prolific time of my songwriting.

Walter Pliszak:
Revival of Riffs
From the vibrant streets of the East Village in the 1970s emerged the captivating melodies of Walter a maestro who found solace and expression through the strings of a guitar. The thriving artistic scene of that era became the backdrop to Walters 's formative years as a guitarist, where the eclectic energy of the era influenced and shaped his musical journey. However, life took a different course for Walter and for over three decades, the strings of his guitar lay dormant as he navigated through various life experiences. Yet, the passion for music never waned; it merely lay in wait for the perfect moment to reemerge. Several years ago, a resurgence took place. A desire to reignite the musical flame that had once burned bright led Walter back to the stage, back to the strings that had long been silent. Returning with an insatiable hunger for music, Walter found a new avenue for expression by joining forces with The Timbres, a band that embraced the nostalgia of the '70s and '80s while infusing their performances with a touch of originality. In this new chapter, Walter weaves a musical tapestry that resonates with the soulful tunes of yesteryears, evoking nostalgia while simultaneously breathing new life into the timeless classics. His renditions of '70s and '80s hits transport audiences back in time, while his original compositions add a contemporary twist, creating a unique and mesmerizing musical experience. Through the prism of his guitar, Walter paints vivid musical landscapes, rekindling the spirit of an era gone by while carving a path for a fresh musical expedition. His dedication to the craft, coupled with a renewed passion, continues to captivate audiences, proving that true artistry knows no hiatus and that melodies once silenced can echo louder than ever before. Join Walter on a journey through the melodies of the past, reinvented for today's ears, as he strums, picks, and slides his way back into the hearts of music aficionados, one soulful note at a time.

Wasyl was inspired by the beats of the East Village original hippies, and the constant conga rhythms echoing from the Tompkins Square Park amphitheater. Without having formal drum lessons, Wasyl's drumming developed in his soul and was influenced by fellow East Village musicians.
Pete Swido
Bass, Vocals, Songwriting
Pete was the original bass player for Gowanus Canal and that’s when we became musical soulmates. He went on to play with Third Decree and later with the Westons. Happily, our paths crossed again when The Timbres were in need of a bass player for an important fundraising concert.
